Honoring a Longtime AMA Contributor
The AMA has been fortunate to work with a long list of expert contributors over the years, and we were saddened to hear of the loss of one of those valued members of our network. Laurence Gold, a well-recognized veteran of the market research industry and a longtime contributor to Marketing News, passed away last week.
For more than four decades, Larry worked in the research industry for firms including Nielsen, MRCA and Metromedia. He was an active member of the Advertising Research Foundation and ESOMAR. And for the past two decades, he worked alongside Jack Honomichl on Inside Research, a well-respected publication that covered the research industry, serving as its editor and publisher.
Larry’s contributions to the AMA were significant. For nearly 20 years, he partnered with Jack to produce the Honomichl Top 50 and Global Top 25 Reports, two annual industry-focused reports ranking the top research firms domestically and internationally by revenue, and offering an in-depth analysis of the research industry’s evolution.
Last year, Larry compiled the 41st-annual iteration of the Top 50 Report and the 19th-annual version of the Global Top 25, carrying the torch after Jack passed away in December 2013. (Both reports were renamed according to Jack’s wishes and now are called the AMA Gold Reports.)
We’re grateful for Larry’s willingness to share his perspective on the market research industry with the AMA audience for so many years, and we’re honored to have published his expert analysis. He will be missed.
